Chevy gives its
two-seat sports car more power for 2001.
The standard
5.7-liter V-8 engine (the LS1) gains 5 hp, to 350,
and Chevy says the
engine delivers more torque at lower speeds for quicker acceleration.
A new version of
the 5.7-liter V-8 engine,
code-named LS6,
produces 385 hp and is available only in the new ZO6 model,
which comes
as a hardtop coupe.
The LS1 engine is
available in a coupe with a removable roof panel and in the Corvette
convertible.
